There are so many things to keep track of when you are moving to a new area of town like packing your clothes, furniture and taking care of other things like paperwork. If you are a person with a game room, packing your game room tables may be the last thing on your mind. These heavy, but entertaining, pieces of furniture are very important to pay attention to when moving them to storage. Game room tables need to be cleaned, disassembled and properly boxed for moving.
Disassembling Your Game Room Tables
Pool tables can weigh around 1,000 pounds. It is no secret they are large pieces of furniture. Take caution when preforming any of the steps below. You do not want to ruin your table!
Remove the Pockets
Remove the screws or staples that attach the pockets to the table. Make sure to wear protective eye wear when removing them. Place the materials into a bag and label for future use. Screws may be covered with wax. Take a screw driver and gently scrape it off for removal.
Disassemble the Rail System
The rail system will be held together with screws or staples. Remove these pieces and place into a bag. The railing should be wrapped in protective material like bubble wrap so it is protected during the moving process.
Remove the Felt
When removing the staples from the felt, make sure to be gentle and not to rip the material. You can get your table re-felted by your local pool table company if this happens. When completed, fold the felt and wrap it in bubble wrap. Do not place it into a plastic bag because moisture can cause bacteria, like mold, to grow on the material.
Unscrew Slate Pieces
Take your screw driver and unscrew the slates from the table. After this is done, wrap the slates in a white padded blanket for extra protection. Avoid wrapping any items in a colored cloth because, if placed in a humid area, it can stain your table.
Take Frame & Legs Apart
Unbolt or unscrew your frame pieces. Label and keep everything together. Wrap each leg and piece of frame in a padded blanket as well. Label these screws accordingly.
Packing the Table
Place individual pieces into a box for loading. Make sure all of your screws are labeled and packed along with the appropriate pieces before moving to storage.
Arcade games involve video games and pinball machines. These pieces of machinery cannot be taken apart like a pool table can. The benefit to arcade games is that they are a lot simpler and faster to move.
Measure the Dimensions
Get your measuring tape and measure the size of your arcade game. You want to double check that your machine will fit through the door you are moving it out of. If there is a problem moving it out of a door, you can remove parts of your doorway to maximize space.
Clean Your Machine
Dust off your machine and unplug it so it is ready to move out of your home.
Pack Your Game
Wrap your arcade game with protective wrap and moving blankets. Make sure that you are not placing tape directly on the machine because it can peel off any artwork. Ensure it is tightly wrapped and ready to load onto a trailer or truck. Secure the machine with a strap standing upright.
If you feel that you would want to avoid packing your game room tables yourself, you can always hire a professional packer. They will ensure that everything is packed secure and safe.
