Apartment Renovation: Managing Complex, Multi-Family Relocation and Return

Major renovations are challenging for any organization. But when you have 76 families to relocate and return to their homes, the project can seem insurmountable. When faced with this reality, the Section 8 housing provider, East of Eaton, partnered with Chipman Relocation to ensure that families were taken care of and belongings protected while the work was underway.

Relocation Challenge

During the 12-month renovation, the residences needed to be alternately vacant. But it was more than that. While the residents were temporarily relocated to hotels, the apartments needed to be empty and ready for the work.

Chipman’s team provided complete relocation services. Residents’ belongings were professionally packed, electronics were disconnected and boxed, and appliances were removed. All items were either moved with the residents or stored in Chipman’s warehouse. When the renovations were complete, all items were moved back and professionally installed. 

The Logistics of a Successful Complex Relocation

While the renovation took place over 12 months, the planning and execution began way in advance. Chipman Relocation collaborated with East of Eaton over the course of 18 months to develop a relocation plan, ensuring that residents were treated well and their property was handled with care. 

Chipman’s project management team ensured all phases of the relocation were completed on time and under budget. From establishing protocols with East of Eaton to communicating with residents, Chipman’s team ensured the project adhered to timelines and everyone was well-informed. 

Residents’ belongings, as well as appliances, were packed, transported, and stored in Chipman’s warehouse facility. Our team ensured all items were tracked and returned to the proper residence.
