How to Pack Softgoods

Blankets, sheets, tablecloths and towels are susceptible to mold and insects during transit and storage. Vacuum and clean area rugs prior to your move, and use wardrobe boxes for moving curtains and draperies.

Linens & Bedding

Fold your linens and bedding, pack into large plastic bags and place them in a box lined with clean paper. Special mattress cartons can be purchased to keep your mattress clean and safe during the move. As you pack, consider setting aside blankets, towels, and pillowcases, they can be used as packing material to pad boxes and wrap dishes.

Draperies and Curtains

To protect your curtains and draperies and keep them wrinkle-free, we recommend using wardrobe boxes. Fold them lengthwise, place over a padded hanger and pin securely. If wardrobe boxes are not an option, draperies and curtains may also be packed in the same manner as linens.

Rugs

Vacuum and clean area rugs prior to a move. Large rugs should be rolled and wrapped in plastic to protect them while in transit. If you don't have the proper packing materials, leave rugs on the floor for us to handle. If they've just been returned from the cleaners, leave them rolled.
