Challenges
Chipman Relocation & Logistics was engaged to decommission a 211,000 sq. ft. office space in Portland, supporting a large-scale call center environment. The project presented several complexities:
  • A compressed timeline, reduced from 37 days to 30
  • A sustainability-driven initiative with 80% of assets designated for donation, resale, or recycling
  • The need to work in sequence with multiple trades to maintain overall project progress
  • Evolving scope, with additional requests added throughout the project
Solutions
Chipman executed a strategic, phased plan to tackle the project’s scale and tight timeline. With dedicated project management, we sequenced work to avoid trade conflicts and streamlined logistics to efficiently move high volumes of assets. Leveraging nonprofit and resale/recycling partnerships,we also achieved the project’s sustainability goals, keeping assets out of landfills.

Results
The project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget, with assets delivered to 12 nonprofit and resale partners and over 1 million lbs of metal recycled. This project highlights Chipman’s ability to execute large-scale, complex decommissions efficiently, flexibly, and with a customer-focused approach—even under tight timelines and evolving project demands.
